Black Belts, Get Your IBJJF Card by 5/21

[h1]One more card, that can choke you out.[/h1]

Black Belts, time to get registered with the IBJJF. Once that was a certificate only sport has now moved to a more formal registration process for all Black Belts, and why shouldn’t it. Most franchises require the same standard in other martial arts, but is this for the good of the sport. Read below and you decide.

Will this make the Black Belt a more secure title, or is it a revenue generating mechanism? Those registered for the 2010 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship will get a complimentary card, but probably not in the future..

[h2]Here’s what was put out by the IBJJF:[/h2]

Starting at the worlds 2010, at any IBJJF event. It is mandatory for all the black belts to carry their federation membership id cards. Its required to present the I.D card to the event official prior to the match.

IBJJF Membership ids and affiliated federation ids accepted for this event; IBJJF (for non US, Brazil, Japan, France and Portugal residents the IBJJF id is applicable), USBJJF for US residents, CBJJ for Brazil Residents,  Japan federation for Japan residents, France Federation for France residentes Portugal federation for Portugal residents, Australia Federation for Australia residents.
For the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2010, IBJJF will release complimentary membership ids for the black belts registered in the world jiu-jitsu championship 2010. This includes the coaches with athletes registered in the event.

In order to apply for your membership id card.

You need to have the 2 forms (student id and academy registration) filled and signed by a IBJJF certified instructor with minimum of 2 degrees in the Black Belt
– Copy of picture id.
– 1 photo

Scan all the images (picture id, photo and application form) and send via email to rick@ibjjf.com . May 21st is the deadline. No applications will be accepted after.

If you do not follow the guidelines, IBJJF reserves the right to deny participation of any athlete in this division. All registers in the Black Belt division are under IBJJF approval.
