This is not to confuse with the ADCC No-Gi Event that is being held this year and traditionally in Los Angeles, CA originally starting in Abu Dhabi.
Event organizer Carlao Santos states on the blog: http://www.worldpro2009.blogspot.com/ that total prize money for the event will be $111,000. Now that’s great money for a tournament.
Carlao Santos states, “The World Professional JJ Cup will be a show. We are treating this
event not just as a championship, but a BJJ mega show: 111 thousand
dollars in prizes, besides six qualifiers in the lead up. This will be
the first Pro BJJ mini-circuit in history. We will have a qualifying
tournament in Brazil, …
for all of South America. In North America, there
will be one in Florida and another in Canada. After that there will be
one in Japan and another in Spain, for Europe, and in Australia. April
30 will be the opener and May 1 and 2, the Pro Worlds.”.
“The competition will be the best and most professional possible. The
fighters can expect, as they will be treated as stars, to be received
as great sportsmen. Especially since the event will be covered by TV
channels from several parts of the world. There will be television
channels from Europe, Brazil, Japan, Australia covering the event. The
champions will become Jiu-Jitsu superstars,” said Carlao in finishing.
